You are right. I truly wish I could just shut off customization=filtering on every web site I go to. I want my world expanding, not closing in on me. I have received an invitation to join Google+, but have not been able to bring myself to actually do it, because the idea of laying out my whole life in Venn Diagrams for a major monster corporation with known ties to Big Brother Government, just really really really creeps me out.

  2. Google+ circles do provide for user control but with the flexibility comes complexity. I suspect many people will not attempt to figure out a strategy for using the circles. They just want to connect with people and exchange things. In comparison, I think facebook-friendship.php” rel=”nofollow”>Facebook is simpler without circles, however, Facebook does have different lists that can be used to put friends into (with permissions applicable to lists).
