If Google acquires Groupon, what will happen for Groupons current employees?

That remains to be seen, but I would imagine they would go to Google (at least some of them).

Google could easily acquire them and not change much to Groupon. I’m sure a lot of their employees would end up keeping their jobs.

  3. this seems to be the hottest thing in local advertising right now, similar companies like http://www.ezhalf.com are popping up everywhere

Google will destroy Groupon and the business model. Google is not good at customer support and the like. They like automation. As it is Groupon is too expensive for most local, small businesses. Google will make sure to make it really unaffordable. That’s when Groupon will disappear.

And the reason Groupon clones have not been successful is because 99% of them have been built for dreamers with no intention of picking up the phone and making a sale. These people just want money to fall on their laps, automation. They also attempt to cover the whole world’s cities right from the beginning with absolutely no customer list. With every successful site comes millions of clones. All developed for 99 cents at scriptlance, RAC and the like.
