  • At the end of April, Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann said that the hit 6-second video app would be coming to Android “soon.” Today, it’s finally here.

The app will sport the video creation functionality, explore feature, and seamless Twitter integration that iOS users enjoy. They’ve also added a zoom feature to Vine for Android – something iOS users don’t currently have.

There are a bunch of features, like support for front-facing cameras, push notifications, and hashtags that Android users won’t have at launch. But they’re coming. Vine for Android and Vine for iOS won’t be in sync in terms of their update schedule – at least for now.

“Though we’ve been very focused on releasing Vine for Android, we’ve continued to release updates and add new features to the iOS app. As a result, the two apps are not perfectly in sync, but that won’t be the case for long. Over the coming weeks, you’ll see frequent updates with new features – including front-facing camera, search, mentions and hashtags, and the ability to share to Facebook – as well as bug fixes and performance improvements. Of course, this is only the beginning – we have exciting plans for features that could exist only on Android,” says Vine Android engineer Sara Haider.

And if you were wondering just how popular Vine has been since its launch back in January – as of today, Vine says they now sport over 13 million registered users.

Here’s the link to download the app in Google Play. Unfortunately, it’s dead right now. We’ll update back when it becomes available.
