Vine Follows Instagram Onto The Web, Introduces TV Mode
Vine, Twitter’s hit short video service, launched on the web today. You can now go to vine.co, and view your home feed, like, comment, and share videos. It’s essentially like the web version of Instagram launched last year.
This makes for an easy way to view other people’s profiles from the desktop (or laptop).
The web version of Vine also brings a nice new feature to the table in TV mode. This lets you watch videos in sequence and in full screen, as opposed to in the traditional feed-based format.
“This release is just a first step toward bringing you a richer, more enjoyable web experience,” says Vine’s Janessa Det. “We look forward to introducing more improvements in 2014.”
This should be considered a major step forward for Vine, as it will draw more users to the content within. You no longer need to have the app on your phone or happen to catch a Vine on Twitter to enjoy what it has in store.
This follows another recent, major move from Vine when it launched in 19 new languages and put a new focus on unearthing local content, as announced in November.
