CMO at UberMedia here. Almost immediately after we were informed by Twitter, this issue was addressed on the server side thanks to quick work by TMI and Twitlonger. Users do not need to update their apps – privacy of long messages is now assured for everyone. This includes all apps in the ecosystem using these services, not just UberMedia’s. The situation was isolated to users who employed the SMS convention of “D username” not those using the embedded DM function in UberSocial or Twidroyd, so it affected very few users to begin with. We guard user privacy vigorously and appreciate any reports of issues.
