If you are the founder of the most popular Twitter photo sharing service TwitPic and you find yourself in the backseat of a police car and, most importantly, still in possession of your phone – what is the logical thing to do? If you guessed “post a photo of your predicament to Twitter using TwitPic,” you would be correct.

It appears that Noah Everett, founder of TwitPic, did just that in the wee hours of the morning today. I’m not sure if this counts as oversharing, or simply keeping your 2.7 million followers informed – but you have to admit that it surely showcases the “real time” appeal of Twitter. Here is Everett’s first Tweet –

Getting arrested…in the back of a cop car now 8 hours ago via txt · powered by @socialditto

The then tweeted this, which is a TwitPic link to the above photo. There appears to be a police computer present, which would lend credibility to the story.

Everett then decided to go into detail about why he found himself in the back of a cop car. It apparently had something to do with public nudity.

…I guess you can’t walk down your own street half naked…who knew – I got a free ride home by the nice police officer 7 hours ago via web · powered by @socialditto

…by half naked, I mean naked 7 hours ago via web · powered by @socialditto

Everett hasn’t tweeted in about 7 hours, so we don’t know if he was actually arrested or not. The “free ride home” part of the last tweet suggests that he may have only gotten some sort of warning. But it would sure be funny if the next tweet was a TwitPic of Everett being released from jail or something similar.

This is kind of what makes social media so great – up-to-the-minute life updates. In the distant past, Everett would have had to send out a mass text or make multiple phone calls to alert people to his situation. What a pain in the ass. With Twitter, he was able to show millions of people instantly.
