Barnes & Noble Says No Nook For Holidays
Barnes & Noble said today it has sold out of its new nook e-reader due to high demand and shipments will not arrive in time for Christmas.
“nook continues to be the fastest-selling product at Barnes & Noble, and pre-orders have continued to exceed our expectations,” Barnes & Noble said on its eReading blog.
National Dog Show Available Online At Hulu

NBC said today "The National Dog Presented by Purina" will be available online Thanksgiving Day (Noon - 2 p.m. in all time zones) at NBCSports.com.
The television broadcast will also be available online after 2 p.m. ET on Hulu.
To complement the TV special and showcase all the breeds, NBCSports.com will feature video of the walks, examination and judging of all the breed-winning dogs with commentary from announce Wayne Ferguson, President of the host Kennel Club of Philadelphia.
Google Finally Shows Off Chrome OS
Everybody has been waiting to see a glimpse of Google's upcoming Chrome OS - that is Google's new operating system. Those who attended an event at the company's headquarters today had a chance to view a demo in person, and many more details than previously available are now out on the OS.
Google has now opened up the code for Chrome OS, so developers can get in there and see what it's really all about. For all of the non-developer types, Google has provided the following short video, which sums up what Chrome OS is as a concept.
Sony Can’t Guarantee E-Reader Holiday Shipments

Sony has begun taking pre-orders for its new electronic reader, the Reader Daily Edition, but due to unexpected demand it can't guarantee shipments before the holidays.
Its $399 Reader Daily Edition is available for pre-order on SonyStyle.com, but the company says it will ship between December 18 and January 8, and "an actual delivery date cannot be guaranteed."
Smartphones Driving Non-Voice Communications

The increase in mobile device usage for non-voice communications, such as text messages, email and Internet access is being driven primarily by the popularity of smartphones, according to a new study by BIA/Kelsey.
BIA/Kelsey's Mobile Market View study, found 18.5 percent of consumers searched the Internet for products or services in their local areas, up from 15.6 percent in 2008, and 16.7 percent visited a social network such as MySpace or Facebook, up from 9.6 percent in 2008.
Majority Of Americans Reading Newspapers In Print And Online
The majority (74%) of Americans, or nearly 171 million people, read a newspaper in print or online during the past week, according to a new report by Scarborough Research.
"While our data does show that print newspaper readership is slowly declining, it also illustrates that reports about the pending death of the newspaper industry are not supported by audience data," said Gary Meo, Scarborough Research's Senior Vice President of Print and Digital Media Services.
Amazon Launches Packaging Certification Program
Amazon.com is launching a Frustration-Free Packaging certification program aimed at convincing manufacturers to provide more user-friendly packaging.
"Wrap rage is real," said Dr. Nadia Shouraboura, vice president of Global Fulfillment for Amazon. "We launched packaging feedback and we were surprised by the customer participation and response world-wide. Our customers told us they want packaging that is easier to open, and is free of wire ties and impenetrable plastic clamshells."
Cyberwarfare Becoming A Reality
The possibility of global cyberwarfare has moved from fiction to reality, according to a new report from McAfee.
The report found that politically motivated cyberattacks have increased and five countries, including the United States, Russia, France, Israel and China, are now armed with cyberweapons.
Security A Concern For Online Holiday Shoppers
As Americans prepare for the holiday shopping season, online security plays a major part in consumers' purchasing decision, according to a new poll by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and Symantec.
More than half (63%) of online shoppers said they did not complete a purchase because of security concerns. The most common reasons for not making an online purchase include:
eBay And Delta Partner On Free Wi-Fi

eBay has partnered with Delta Airlines to offer passengers free Gogo Inflight Internet service on all Wi-Fi equipped flights from November 24-30.
Delta says its has 260 Wi-Fi enabled airplanes flying more than 1,000 flights each day, and during the Thanksgiving promotion it expects more than 1 million customers will access the service.
