Google Reader is becoming the online companion to and synchronization platform for NewsGator's RSS readers including FeedDemon and NetNewsWire. Users have until August 31 to migrate to Google Reader, when NewsGator will shut down NewsGator Online.
No changes in ranking seem imminent - Google Reader was actually closer to catching Bloglines ten months ago than it is now. Still, new Hitwise data confirms that these are the top two RSS readers, and in a 12-month comparison, Google's service is gaining ground.
Before we had Google Reader, the biggest kid on the RSS reader block was Bloglines. While Google has taken that title, away from the Ask.com owned service, Bloglines has been back to the gym recently and added some bulk. Bloglines has rolled out a slew of new features today, including:
