iPhone Users Will be Able to Sync with PowerPoint Syndicate content

Microsoft’s Mac Business Unit has announced that Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac OS will allow iPhone and iPod users to sync with PowerPoint. You will be able to run PowerPoint slideshows on your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Classic and fatty iPod Nano (any iPod with picture support) if you have a Mac with PowerPoint 2008 and iPhoto (2006 or better).

The Inquirer reports that Google may soon deploy slideshow presentation creation and display software which they’ll call “Presently”. This application was apparently developed out of code that Google got with their acquisition of Zenter and Tonic Systems earlier this year. The new presentation software will join the other Google Apps suite of products which include Google Spreadsheets, Google Write, and Gmail.

Google appears to be on track to deliver on its promise to provide a PowerPoint alternative by the summer. The company has announced the acquisition of Zenter, a company offering online slide presentations.

Gmail Previews PowerPoint Files Syndicate content

Gmail added a new feature last week: a PowerPoint viewer. Now, if someone emails you a PowerPoint presentation (.PPT or .PPS file) as an email attachment, you can click a View As HTML or View As Slideshow link to view that file in your web browser. Presumably, this takes advantage of features developed for Google Docs’ upcoming Google Presentations software, which is supposed to release sometime this summer, or even uses some of the tech acquired from Tonic Systems earlier this year.

He says that publishers have long been aware of the power of numbers in grabbing people's attention. Think about titles of popular books such as "1,000 Places To See Before You Die" and "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Television does it with their countdown shows and websites do it with lists: "AFI's 100 Greatest American Movies" or "VH1's 100 Greatest Kid Stars."
