Well according to polls run a season or two ago, and interviews I have watched in the time since then – the MAJORITY of Americans truly HATE Reality TV shows, the reason that they are so popular though with the networks? They are CHEAP to make.

I myself do not watch ANY reality TV at all, nor to be honest does anyone that I personally know.

  2. Although I don’t personally watch reality shows, I have many friends and acquaintances who do so obsessively. My observation has been that women mostly like shows with a lot of dialog. Men like shows with a lot of visual action. I think men watch reality shows, because that’s what their wives are watching. But, I know single men who watch them as well.
The ultimate goal of networks is ad revenue based on viewership numbers and ratings. I doubt they would show anything that wasn’t extremely popular.

  3. I have no TV set at home.
All the people who watch this zombo-box is retards.

“IS retards ??? There is only one retard here .. and it isn’t us TV watchers, Amanat !! LOL

  4. Reality TV is unpredictable? Not really. The locales change, but the themes are very consistent and predictable. Big Brother: people stuck in a house together while being forced to do stupid stunts for rewards or punishment, who form alliances that they break as everyone competes to win. Survivor: people stuck on an island together while being forced to do stupid stunts for rewards or punishment, who form alliances that they break as everyone competes to win.

    Etc.

Even the name “reality tv” is a misnomer. They are contrived situations created to bring out the worst in people. IMO, people who watch reality tv do so for one of two reasons:
    1. Because it makes them feel superior to the losers who are cast
    2. There is no original programming on broadcast television anymore.
