Steve Jobs’ Death: Bill Gates Issues Statement
[ Technology]

Call them rivals, dual visionaries, or whatever you want – there’s no doubt that Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are both titans of the tech field.

With Jobs’ passing this evening, Gates has issued a statement:

I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.

Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.

The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come.

For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely.

You can see that Gates had immense respect for Jobs, a man who changed the way all of us live and the way all of us interact with the technology that powers our lives. Jobs was 56.

Here’s a video of the two making a rare joint appearance at the All Things Digital D5 conference a few years ago –

I love how Bill said “it’s been an insanely great honor”.

Steve used the term “insanely great” frequently to describe his products.

  • Shawn

Steve Jobs died as he lived… always second to Bill Gates and Microsoft.

    • TK

That was lame dude and uncalled for.

  • Organ Donor Recipient

What a waste of a good liver. I bet the person that was supposed to receive the liver that steve jobs stole isn’t crying one single tear. Funny how justice is served here. And yes, jobs used legal loopholes to jump the line to get an organ donor liver. What a piece of crap even in death.

    • Jesse

Tech geniuses, masters of software, and personal heros of mine.
Jobs and Gates. The world has lost a GREAT man. I don’t know how apple will do without him.

  • Jim Organ

@Organ Donor – I think you’ve just demonstrated who the real piece of crap is. BTW – I’ve got an organ for you.

    • Organ Donor Recipient

Yes, I did demonstrate who the real piece of crap is. Obviously you have no idea what it is like to wait on a list for an organ and your ignorance in this matter is displayed by your lack of an intelligent response. “I’ve got an organ for you”. Really?? Is that the best you got?? You are so damn original. I bet all your friends consider you the life of the party. Well I got an organ for you… It’s 6 feet under a tombstone with the last name of Jobs. You can go dig it up and suck on that one.

Today the world has sadly lost it’s Greatest Leader,
in a field that Steve Jobs himself,in many ways created.
A gifted genius with unmatched peerless brilliance, innovation, persistence and vision.
A man who truly touched the lives not of millions but of billions.
I am grateful to have lived in a time to witness a man of your brilliance!

The world has lost it’s charm today.

Thanks steve, you made the world look so beautiful through your work, ideas and your thoughts.

    Your legact lives on!!!

Steve Jobs’ body is gone, but he will always be alive through his so many extremely useful inventions. It is not a competition between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates as both are great men they are giants and they made huge difference towards the better, in the life of each one of us as the majority of us are using at least one of Steve’s inventions. Jobs and Gates’ software and applications are used by all of us, be it for fun, work or life saving in term of medical imaging, testing, research, aviation and the list of useful usage is endless.

As for those who are using vulgar and low description regarding Steve Jobs livers transplant, I would like to say to them to show some respect as one day they will die and they will go as deep as 9feet under.

    Steve Jobs’body rest in peace.

Steve was a true American in every sence of the word……… n its true

  • LOL

What is wrong with some of you people? Lol, “more then a human,”the world has lost its charm,” “the world has lost is Greatest Leader” wtf are you people saying lol. He was a man, a smart man and a perfectionist, but a man that’s all. He did his job of saving Apple and starting some good companies and gave a lot of people jobs, no pun intended, and where do some of you people learn to spell for God’s sake. Just so you know the words underlined in red are miss spelled. I also find it hard to believe that if Jobs wasn’t the man he was, but a regular average salary man he would never have received that liver and we all know it. Also I have to say most Mac products are truly over priced and EASILY broken, I mean the iPhone is like literally made of glass, one drop 8 inches onto carpet and it cracks the screen in half. I can build a regular PC with all of the equivalent operation specs for a fifth of the cost as Apple charges for their computers. All Steve did was design a pretty case for his products and pretty much make them idiot proof for the everyday moron. I don’t see how people can compare Bill and Steve, Bill pretty much INVENTED the INTERNET and the MICROCHIP which powered Steve’s pretty looking overpriced crap. You crazy MAC fanatics need to chill and stop over-reacting, Mac will still make your easily broken products even though he is dead.

  • “True American” …?

Also what the hell do you mean a “true American” …? His biological father was from Syria, but that is not here nor their. What does it mean to be a “true American” all you have to do is be born here, boom your a true American. He was a business man plain and simple, stop kissing his ass, lol.
