  • If you have an iPhone with Siri, you might consult her for a lot of things. You might even have full conversations with her when you are lonely. But, have you ever wondered who is behind that voice? If so, you aren’t alone and finally there is an answer to this popular question.

Susan Bennett is the voice of Siri and it isn’t the first voicing gig she has had. She is also the voice you might hear at the Delta airline terminals and sings many of the popular commercial jingles and is even the voice of several GPS devices.

You might think that being the voice of Siri is a fun job to have, but Bennett says it sometimes required her to read lines over and over again for hours upon hours. She even admits that she really didn’t know what the voice recording were for when she started them because she was not working with the software developer directly.

Was the Siri app was released, her close friends, family members and colleagues begin questioning if the voice was hers. So after all this time, what made Bennett decide to come forward with the news that she is the voice of Siri?

“It seemed like everyone was clamoring to find out who the real voice behind Siri is, and so I thought, well, you know, what the heck? This is the time,” Bennett said.

Apple did not confirm that Bennett was the voice of Siri, but they didn’t have to. A veteran audio-forensics expert who analyzed Bennett’s and Siri’s voices found they were a 100% match.

Apple recently released their new mobile operating software iOS 7 and replaced Bennett as the voice of Siri. Users can instead choose the voice they want to hear. The identities of the people behind the new voices are currently unknown.
