I quit Google since they removed my 10 year old site from their index. Now I use social networks and don’t worry about Google’s tantrums anymore.

  2. My site has not recovered at all but I have friend who runs a similar type of site and that has completely recovered to pre-Panda. The puzzle was why as it did not coincide with any of the given Panda update dates nor had anything particular been done to the site. This might be the explanation.

Presumably good news as it will speed up recovery for those that are going to recover. Big worry is whether your site will be one of the ones that can recover.

Agreed. You can’t rely on one source of traffic, not even the search engines. That puts you at the mercy of that particular source, and you are effectively cutting yourself off from your target audience elsewhere on the Internet.
