Minecraft Says “NOPA” To PIPA & SOPA

Minecraft shuts down sites in protest

Popular building game, Minecraft, has joined in on the SOPA/PIPA protest. Currently, if you visit the site you’ll see the image above with the following message:

“We are joining the Internet-wide protest against SOPA/PIPA today on JAN 18th by shutting down our websites.”

Oddly enough Minecraft.net chose the color red for their “black” out. You’ll also notice the title of the site has been modified to say “Site Down”.

  You can still play Minecraft, even though the site is ‘down’. Just means you can’t change your character skin and look at the web page.

      yes, you can, use the downloadable client, if you don’t have that, use mcpatcher, minecraft coder pack, the installer for singleplayer commands, anything with a “test minecraft” button. also, You can always just ask someone to skype you their minecraft.exe and/or .minecraft folder, minus the lastlogin file of course.

Guys. All its doing is to stop ONLINE PIRACY as in Downloading World of Warcraft. Even though it is already illegal people do it. Its not going to stop minecraft. Its just trying to stop online piracy and have people actually go to the original site and either buy a game or music instead of downloading it illegally.
