Google has created a new resource for developers looking to use HTML5 in their work. The site is called HTML5 Rocks and has launched with nine tutorials on HTML5 features.

In addition to step-by-step tutorials, HMTL5 Rocks features an interactive presentation and a code playground where you can experiment with APIs.

HTML5 Rocks - A new site from Google

The site keeps a running tab of latest additions to the tutorials section, right on the front page, and points to additional HTML5 resources for developers.

The site, the code playground, and the presentation are all open source, and Google encourages people to contribute themselves.

I checked out the site in Google Chrome, the home page loaded pretty fast. I clicked the interactive slide and the page was still loading even after 2 minutes. I could see 1 and half pages of content, no scrollbars. I used the scroll wheel of my mouse and the content scrolled. Not very pleasing to the eye but the scroll animation is Ok, no great effects, no smooth scroll.
The code playground was cool though.
But html5 is definitely the way to go.

  2. Seems like top players and below are focused on options – and what exactly the features are…. kicking the tires if you will. Now its up to the users to see if this is a good solution and how long it will last.
True test will be when its implemented and heavily in use.
