The FOX News film that was in production over at HBO has been cancelled by the picture’s producers, citing a conflict of interest. HBO has ties to CNN, as they’re both owned by the folks over at Time Warner, which made crafting such a movie a bit inappropriate. Given HBO’s history of producing controversial, hard-hitting documentaries that don’t pull punches, seeing their take on the rise of FOX News would have been entertaining.

HBO Films President Len Amato recently spoke with the film industry news site Deadline, confirming that the project is currently dead in the water. “We recently decided not to pursue the Ailes project,” Amato explained. “It had become clear to us before even receiving a script that due to our company’s CNN affiliation the film could never be seen as objective.”

The script, which was based on an upcoming book by author Gabriel Sherman, is rumored to have put a focus on Roger Ailes, the man hired by Rupert Murdoch to create the FOX News Channel in 1996. According to a source close to the production, the movie would have attempted to tackle the subject by setting its sites on Ailes. Reports suggest that the screenplay was written in such a way that FOX News would have looked more like the mafia than a news organization. This may explain why HBO was hesitant to put this documentary into production.

On Thursday, Deadline also confirmed that none of the dealmakers had been notified of the project’s cancellation. I’m sure they were thrilled to learn of the production’s recent turn of events by reading a news article online. However, according to HBO, very little work had been done on the film, so maybe it’s not so bad after all.

How does one make a film on Fox news
How do you list it; under fiction
Pure propaganda for the wealthy 1% of this nation
Everything out there is fake or spin-ning out of control
The only balance Fox News has; It balances the bull from the super wealthy

    • omegaman

Anthony, you’re a naive, empty-headed moron. Shut up and get lost.

      • J

Omegaman, you’re a big boy now; it’s time to get off CNN’s nipple and start thinking for yourself. Regurgitating what you hear from liberal pundits is embarrassing!

        • J

I meant to say “Omegaman I agree”. Anthony you’re a big boy now…

    • Edrod

Anthony, Have you ever tried thinking an original thought?. Or do you just do what my relatives do, which is repeat, repeat, repeat until you convince yourself that you are right?. America offers everyone a chance to do research and find the truth. I have even gone back to when mu uncles were fighting in WWII and found that the Communist Party was in full swing in our country and now they control non-thinkers like you.

    • Joseph

Dude, you are absolutely correct. Study after study shows nobody is more unaware of current events than those who have them all factually wrong like the fox news viewer.. thats why intellectual Americans are overwhelmingly democrats, 82-95%.. Sorry fox news, you have a fast approaching expiration date.

      • http://yahoo bucknaked

Where is your proof of those numbers ? Typical made up numbers by an idiot liberal, yes and all those inner city dems are real mental giants

        • Jose

Um, I don’t know how well you take to facts, but uh, most Americans that finish college have liberal leanings. Look it up, knowledge doesn’t bite. Sorry to burst your bubble BUCKNAKED. Please do us all a favor and look it up, but first put on some clothes.

  • David

its obvious that anthony hasn’t ever watch fox news. even liberals will tell you that fox will give you both sides of a story and let you decide. all the other obama news networks give you one side and tell you that is what you are to believe. i enjoy the fact that i can watch fox news and then come to the internet for more info. i have found some real news station that are very hateful if you don’t go their way. so bad mouth fox news all you want

    • baconbombs

Idiots put words in other peoples mouths. Liberals I know will not say Fox gives you both sides of a story. I would say liberals you know might tell you fox is unbiased to get you to shut up about politics and just enjoy your friends company. But that would be a guess, I have no knowledge of your world. I do have knowledge of a liberals world, it is NOT as you claim.

    • Jose

David are you deaf, blind, or both? Are you kidding me??? “Fair and balanced”???? fox news is a joke. Reports are suppose to REPORT, not give you their opinions. But judging by what you wrote, I’m guessing you’ll need something more than words to convince you, so here’s a VIDEO, probably the only way you relay info to your brain.

      Here’s your Fox News:

      And another one:

How can you consider any sort of information dispatched from this channel legitimate?

  • Edrod

Become a Conservative Republican and live a life of freedom and accumelate as much wealth as you want. America offers everyone, even idiots like democrats the chance to become wealthy. If you don’t belive me ask any Hollywood actor or professional athelete and they will mummble an answer of some sort as they drive away in their expensive cars to their expensive homes. America does nont require that you be smart or good looking, just so you try.

  • http://yahoo scodarman

Wow Joseph. I’d like to see the evidence that 82-95% of intellectual Americans are overwhelmingly democrat. I can’t possibly figure out how that can be accurately measured. But hey, if it makes you feel better so be it.

  • eyemall

They need to make a film on how Obama has been backed by George Soros, the anti American Billionaire.

    • baconbombs

So any billionaire who supports liberal causes is anti-American?
The reason conservatives like you have so many liberal conspiracy theories is actually pretty scientific.
“liberal tended to have a larger anterior cingulate cortex”
      “conservative have a larger amygdala”
Simply put Liberals have a better ability to deal with complex problems while conservatives just scream fear and conspiracy at everything liberal. But then again, this is part of the reason conservatives think science is a liberal conspiracy.

After all said and done, after all the twists and spins, Liberals overwhelmingly resort to harassment and bashings and, most importantly, sarcasm, when attempting at reason. You would NEVER win a court case against a conservative. At least not under reasonable, logical guide lines. You and evryone reading these comments and everything on utube and elsewhere, KNOW you are un denial, and bec of Liberals this world WILL end up in chaos. This means Conservatives are prone to realism and honesty, and Liberals to optimism and denial.

Reading George Soros wiki info, he seems like the model American. He’s not like Republioan billinaires and isn’t out for himself. Here is his info so people can decide for themselves. Plus if a billionaire tells you he thinks he pays too little taxes like Warren Buffet did you know somethings not right with what republicans are saying about how they refuse to raise taxes for the weathly.

Soros has been active as a philanthropist since the 1970s, when he began providing funds to help black students attend the University of Cape Town in apartheid South Africa,[45] and began funding dissident movements behind the iron curtain.

Soros’ philanthropic funding includes efforts to promote non-violent democratization in the post-Soviet states. These efforts, mostly in Central and Eastern Europe, occur primarily through the Open Society Institute (OSI) and national Soros Foundations, which sometimes go under other names (such as the Stefan Batory Foundation in Poland). As of 2003, PBS estimated that he had given away a total of $4 billion.[39] The OSI says it has spent about $500 million annually in recent years.

In 2003, former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker wrote in the foreword of Soros’ book The Alchemy of Finance:

George Soros has made his mark as an enormously successful speculator, wise enough to largely withdraw when still way ahead of the game. The bulk of his enormous winnings is now devoted to encouraging transitional and emerging nations to become “open societies”, open not only in the sense of freedom of commerce but – more important – tolerant of new ideas and different modes of thinking and behavior.[46]

Time magazine in 2007 cited two specific projects – $100 million toward Internet infrastructure for regional Russian universities, and $50 million for the Millennium Promise to eradicate extreme poverty in Africa – while noting that Soros had given $742 million to projects in the U.S., and given away a total of more than $7 billion.[47]

Other notable projects have included aid to scientists and universities throughout Central and Eastern Europe, help to civilians during the siege of Sarajevo, and Transparency International. Soros also pledged an endowment of €420 million to the Central European University (CEU). The Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus and his microfinance bank Grameen Bank received support from the OSI.

According to National Review[48] the Open Society Institute gave $20,000 in September 2002 to the Defense Committee of Lynne Stewart, the lawyer who has defended alleged terrorists in court and was sentenced to 2⅓ years in prison for “providing material support for a terrorist conspiracy” via a press conference for a client. An OSI spokeswoman said “it appeared to us at that time that there was a right-to-counsel issue worthy of our support.”

In September 2006 Soros pledged $50 million to the Millennium Promise, led by economist Jeffrey Sachs to provide educational, agricultural, and medical aid to help villages in Africa enduring poverty. The New York Times termed this endeavor a “departure” for Soros whose philanthropic focus had been on fostering democracy and good government, but Soros noted that most poverty resulted from bad governance.[49]

He received honorary doctoral degrees from the New School for Social Research (New York), the University of Oxford in 1980, the Corvinus University of Budapest, and Yale University in 1991. Soros also received the Yale International Center for Finance Award from the Yale School of Management in 2000 as well as the Laurea Honoris Causa, the highest honor of the University of Bologna in 1995.

Soros played a role in the peaceful transition from communism to capitalism in Hungary (1984–89)[7] and provided Europe’s largest-ever higher education endowment to Central European University in Budapest.[50] Later, the Open Society Institute’s programs in Georgia were considered by Russian and Western observers to have been crucial in the success of the Rose Revolution.

In the United States, he donated large sums of money in an effort to defeat President George W. Bush’s bid for re-election in 2004. In 2010, he donated $1 million in support of Proposition 19, which would have legalized marijuana in the state of California. He was an initial donor to the Center for American Progress, and he continues to support the organization through the Open Society Foundations. The Open Society Institute has active programs in more than 60 countries around the world with total expenditures currently averaging approximately $600 million a year.[51] Between 1979 and 2011, Soros gave away over $8 billion to human rights, public health, and education causes.[1]

      • Jose

Right on point Mike! If only more people had the sense of looking up what Soros is actually about. If there’s a God, I’m sure he’d be a lot like him.

    • Jose

Hey, you blabbering sack of ignorant! Have you read anything on Soros? Do you know what he’s actually about? How about stop taking Fox News’ word for it, and do some research of your own.

Apparently Baconbombs thinks that a larger anterior cingulate cortex means greater intelligence or deliberative skill. By his logic, the sperm whale should be the most intelligent animal in the world since they have the biggest brains and therefore should vote. Baconbomb,s comments prove 2 things: 1- He is not a neurologist, 2- A little knowledge is dangerous.

  • Cucumber

Isn’t it ironic, that while Fox News is striving to simply find and provide the TRUTH about corruption in politics, that the liberal progressives (B. Hussein Obama sheep) put their spin on it as “biased”.

If all you Obama loving, Kool-aid drinking liberals think that Fox News is a joke, then they must be a pretty darned good one…..just look at their overwhelming ratings.
