  • Facebook launched the App Center in the U.S. on June 8th, after a few weeks of speculation. The Facebook App Center was billed as the best new way to find all of the Facebook-connected mobile and web apps, all collected in one convenient location.

Facebook’s App Center originally launched with just over 600 apps, which were all listed with a heavy reliance on social factors. For instance, Facebook said that each user would have a “personalized experience” with the App Center through friend recommendations.

Also, we learned that Facebook was truly serious about the integrity of the app ratings in the App Center. They stated that only “high quality apps” will even appear in the App Center, and that status will be determined by random user ratings and user engagement.

Now, according to The Next Web, the Facebook App Center is jumping across the pond and officially rolling out to users in the U.K.

Just like users in the U.S. last month, U.K. Facebook users are receiving a little pop-up when they log in, notifying them of the presence of the App Center.

Just like in the U.S., the U.K. App Center allows users to browse the many Facebook-connected apps by category – including games, lifestyle, music, sports, and utilities. When a user wishes to use a mobile app that they find in the Facebook App Center, they’re directed to the proper third-party source (iTunes, Google Play).

Facebook drove people to Apple App Store 83 million times in the month before the App Center launched in the U.S. We can only assume that it’s continued launch around the world will only help developers and companies like Apple and Google, alike.
