  • Although Facebook probably didn’t plan it like this, this announcement is pretty timely considering what’s been going on over at LinkedIn and some other high-profile sites in the past couple of days. In order to keep your experience more safe, they say, Facebook in unveiling a couple of improvements to mobile security.

At Facebook we are always working to improve our systems and products so you can use them anywhere, any time, and on any device. We’ve spent a lot of time over the past few months making sure that your mobile experience is just as good as when you’re at home sitting at your computer. As such, we are happy to announce a few improvements to our safety and security products that will now be available to the nearly half billion users that access our site using a mobile device.

First up is Code Generator, the newest part of their Login approvals feature on the Facebook mobile site. If you use Code Generator, you’ll get Login Approval codes without having to wait on an SMS and you don’t need cellular or internet access to receive them. This new feature makes it easier to protect your account from unauthorized access.

Facebook has also added a feature to mobile that was previously only available on the desktop site. Now, mobile users have the ability to hide stories and to report/mark them as spam. This is accesible by clicking on the icon in the top right-hand corner once you’ve opened up a post via the comment link.

A little extra safety and security – definitely nothing wrong with that.
