Facebook Adds Quick Like Reply to Mobile Messages, Prevents You from Having to Use the Dreaded ‘K’

By: Josh Wolford - June 24, 2013

It’s a small update, but an interesting one. Facebook has added a new like button reply option inside mobile messaging that lets you confirm, like, agree with, basically give a generic positive affirmation to any message with one tap.

The new like reply option only appears when you receive a message on Facebook’s iOS and Android apps, plus m.facebook.com. Just tap the like button and you’ll send a quick “yeah” or “k” to your friend:

Facebook like reply

It’s that simple. Nothing monumental, but it is a time saver. Any other similar affirmative response would involve at least three clicks – this works in one.

The new like reply option doesn’t appear on Facebook’s desktop site, but the like replies made from mobile do appear. They look a bit funny when compared to the “like” sign you can generate on the desktop version using Facebook’s emoticon menu:

To those of you who hate to get the dreaded “k” text, is this better?

Doubt i’ll ever use this feature, why didn’t they spend the time to integrate hashtags into the mobile app instead of this? Way to provide a consistent user experience, Facebook.
