Apple CEO Tim Cook started the Siri talk by letting the audience hear what Siri sounds like in other countries around the world, from Australia to Germany.

He then made the announcement that Siri was launching in Japan with the release of iOS 5.1. It is available today and will be rolling out in Japan over the next few weeks.
