We’ve written about Greplin a couple of times – once after the service launched, and again last week, when the company sent users an email with some new updates. If you’re unfamiliar with the service, the best way to describe it is truly personalized search. 

It’s officially time for tech companies to take cover.  Sequoia Capital (a venture capital firm known for backing Apple, Google, and YouTube) and Ron Conway (an angel investor behind Google and PayPal) have advised entities in their portfolios to cut costs and hunker down.

Some beta services are more refined than others, and TokBox, which offers free video chat, may still have a ways to go.  But TokBox has the support of Sequoia Capital, and also has around $4 million from the venture capital firm.

Michael Moritz will not seek re-election to Google’s board of directors, choosing instead to devote that time to venture capital giant Sequoia Capital.
