Another Video Paints Google and Eric Schmidt as Creepy

If you have a beef with Google’s actions, the trendy thing to do these days appears to be making a video about it, and using Eric Schmidt quotes and likenesses, making them as creepy as possible. 

The latest such video comes from FairSearch.org. This is an organization that refers to itself as, "a group of businesses united in support of a healthy Internet future, where greater consumer choice and economic growth are driven by competition, transparency and innovation in online search."

Google’s $700 million acquisition of ITA Software has just hit another obstacle.  Several high-profile travel companies have banded together to form "the FairSearch.org coalition" and ask the U.S. Department of Justice to challenge the deal.

Even before an acquisition was announced, talks between Google and ITA software were causing a stir in the travel industry. Once Google announced its intent to acquire the company at the beginning of July for $700 million, plenty of talk about regulatory obstacles ensued.

Report: Tough Review Of Google-ITA Deal Likely

Five days ago, Google and ITA Software announced that they’d reached a "definitive agreement" covering an acquisition.  Only – if you hadn’t already guessed – it looks like a government agency may have a thing or two to say, as a new report indicates that antitrust regulators will take a close look at the transaction.

The main concern is that Google might eventually withhold flight data (which ITA provides) from its search rivals (Bing is one ITA customer).  The search giant’s only promised to honor existing agreements so far.

Google Announces $700 Million Acquisition of ITA Software

Google announced that it has signed an acquisition agreement with ITA Software. Reports of talks surrounding such an acquisition were revealed in April, but talk heated up again this week, mostly regarding issues of concern expressed by many in the travel industry.

Marissa Mayer, Google’s VP, Search Products & User Experience, has now posted to the Official Google Blog that an agreement has been signed. She writes:

Even as news of Google’s acquisition of Agnilux is still making its way around the Web, another Google acquisition may be in the works, and this one would be pretty huge, according to a new report.  Google’s supposedly in talks to buy travel software specialist ITA Software for $1 billion.
