When medical woes and a broken hip confined Zsa Zsa Gabor to a bed, her daughter says, the aging starlet’s husband kept her isolated from her family and began making questionable decisions regarding her finances.

Gabor’s daughter, Francesca Hilton, has been locked in a court battle for months with her stepfather, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, while trying to get a judge to appoint a conservator for her mother’s estate. She was granted her wish, but von Anhalt was ultimately named as that conservator, which means he has at least a little bit of control over Gabor’s finances and estate.

However, von Anhalt will have to keep very careful records of any money he spends and won’t have access to certain accounts. He’ll also have to provide medical records for Gabor, since her daughter claims she isn’t receiving adequate care while living as something of a shut-in.

Hilton says she’ll also have weekly visits with her mother without von Anhalt there, something she never got before.

“He’s basically taken my mother away from me,” she said.

Prince von Anhalt has managed to keep a public profile throughout all of this, even announcing he is currently in the running for mayor of L.A. He’s no stranger to controversy, however; he was one of several men who claimed to be the father of Anna Nicole’s daughter.
