  • Zoe Saldana stars in the trailer for the upcoming NBC miniseries adaptation, Rosemary’s Baby.

NBC stated that the two-part, four-hour miniseries is based on Ira Levin’s best-selling 1967 suspense novel, and not a remake of the Oscar-winning 1968 Roman Polanski film, though the story is essentially the same.

Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek) plays Rosemary, who moves to Paris with her husband, Guy Woodhouse, played by Patrick J. Adams (Suits, Luck). He comes into money, they are housed in a prime apartment in Paris, and she gets pregnant. It seems life could not get more perfect, but her pregnancy takes a turn towards the supernatural.  “There are some things in this ultrasound that I’ve never seen before,” Rosemary’s doctor tells her after viewing the fetus on an ultrasound.

In the trailer, Rosemary develops doubts about the origins of her child, and paranoia about her neighbors. “There are witches in my building,” Rosemary says.

The trailer also indicates Rosemary’s husband plays a larger role than in the novel or Polanski’s film, showing the motivations behind his involvement with and deal-making with some suspicious characters.

The end of the trailer below finds Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows) telling Saldana she was chosen to be the baby’s mother.

“By who?,” asks Seldana, and Isaacs responds with a chilling, telling head tilt.

Is her child the Antichrist? We’ll find out soon enough!

Part one of Rosemary’s Baby airs on Mother’s Day, Monday, May 11, with the conclusion on May 15. Watch the trailer below.
