  • Yvette Velasco, 27, of Fontana, California, was among the 14 fatalities in Wednesday’s San Bernardino massacre. The young woman seemingly had the world by the horns.

In an email statement to The Press Enterprise, Robert Velasco–Yvette’s father–said his daughter was “intelligent, motivated, and beautiful young woman.”

She “was full of life and loved by all who knew her,” the statement continued.

Yvette Velasco had worked for San Bernardino County for more than two and a half years as an environmental specialist.

A California Highway Patrol officer was standing guard in front of Yvette Velasco’s suburban home on Thursday evening. Family members weren’t yet up for speaking with the press.

“Please pray for our family and the other families who have lost a loved one as a result of this terrible tragedy,” the email from her father concluded.

In addition to her father, Yvette Velasco is survived by her mother, Marie Velasco, and sisters Adriana, Erica, and Genevieve.

28-year-old Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik sprayed as many as 75 rounds of ammunition into the room where Yvette Velasco and countless others were attending an employee holiday party at a center for people with developmental disabilities on Wednesday. They were later killed in a standoff with authorities. It is uncertain if the shooting was terror-related on a workplace grudge.
