  • Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori has created some amazing, insanely detailed paintings of fish using a process involving resin, which makes the artwork part painting and part 3-d sculpture. And while it probably takes a lot of practice to get down, he makes it look so easy that any artist watching the process will say “Damn! Why didn’t I think of that first?!”

Using incredibly intricate brush strokes, Fukahori lays down each layer of the painting individually; for instance, for one work he painted a fish’s fins first, then added a layer of shiny resin, then waited for it to dry before painting in the body of the fish. The results from all this hard work are some of the most beautiful, realistic paintings I’ve ever seen, done in a very creative way.
