Yahoo’s New Integration with Facebook

  • Late last year, Yahoo entered an agreement with Facebook, and we are now seeing the results. Yahoo has begun integrating Facebook deeply into its properties.

Yahoo users can now link their Facebook accounts directly to Yahoo, and view/share updates with their friends across both Yahoo and Facebook. Users can see their Facebook News Feed on the Yahoo Home Page, in Yahoo Mail, or on other Yahoo sites.

"Beyond Facebook, your activities on Yahoo! are another important way of bringing social experiences together," says Yahoo in a joint post on the Yodel Anecdotal blog from Jim Stoneham, VP of Communities and Cody Simms, Senior Director, Yahoo Social Platforms and Yahoo Developer Network. "Globally, Yahoo! now has more [than] 80 sites producing socially infused content, including three million photos and videos uploaded daily to Flickr, 1.1 million answers provided daily on Yahoo! Answers, and thousands of comments posted daily on articles across Yahoo! sites."

Let’s not forget that Yahoo recently acquired Demand Media competitor Associated Content (a couple weeks ago, we talked about Facebook spreading itself further across the web as a result of some new Demand Media integration as well).

Yahoo has also introduced Yahoo Pulse, a dashboard for managing social activities (which Yahoo is calling Yahoo Updates) and privacy settings across Yahoo properties.
