Yahoo continues to build its news team, adding Matt Bai as a new Yahoo News National Political Columnist.

Bai is the former chief political correspondent for the New York Times Magazine.Yahoo says in his new role he'll offer "unique commentary and deep analysis of politics in Washington and around the country."

This is the third recent hire from the New York Times that Yahoo News has made. Last month, it announced the addition of famous tech columnist David Pogue, to lead Yahoo's tech coverage.

In September, Yahoo added former NYT Deputy News Editor Megan Liberman as is new Editor in Chief.

Apparently Yahoo News is just becoming the new New York Times. It will be interesting to see if they bring any others on board.

“Matt has an ideal voice for Yahoo News,” said Liberman. "He has a singular ability to write about politics in a way that will connect with Yahoo News’ broad readership and bring in younger readers who aren’t always attracted to political commentary. I’m thrilled he is joining us.”

Bai will report to Liberman. He has a book called All the Truth Is Out: The Fall of Gary Hart and the Rise of Tabloid Journalism due out next year.
