  • A new report by The Wall Street Journal says the deal between The New York Times and Google is worth $100 million over three years.

Newspapers and traditional media have been looking for ways to stay relevant and monetize content. At the same time, Google and other Big Tech companies have often faced criticism for not adequately compensating outlets for linking to the news they publish.

According to WSJ, the Times’ deal with Google allows the search giant to use the outlet’s content in Google News and other platforms. The deal reportedly also more than makes up for Meta discontinuing its contracts with media outlets, including the Times.

Neither Google nor the Times would comment on WSJ’s story.
