Sultan Kösen is the world’s tallest man. Kösen stands high at 8’3”. But lately, Sultan’s height is not the big news… or is it? It turns out that the world’s tallest man has finally tied the knot. Kösen’s blushing bride is a Syrian woman named Mervi Dibo. Interestingly, Dibo is not the perfect height match for Kösen as she is more than two feet shorter than Kösen.

Kösen, who is now 31, came to the public’s attention after Guiness World Records declared him the tallest man in the world back in 2009. Kösen works as a farmer and was born in southeastern Turkey. His unbelievable height is the result of a tumor that affects his pituitary gland.

While it normally stands that the bushing bride is the center of attention on the wedding day, Kösen’s bride didn’t stand a chance against her husband’s celebrity. The couple was tightly engulfed by curious spectators and all eyes (and cameras!) were on Sultan Kösen. Onlookers strained their necks to stare up at Kösen who easily overshadowed his bride. It is a wonder what great efforts had to be made in order to develop the custom suit for his incredible size, but it appeared to be well-fitting to his extraordinary stature.

Kösen must bend down in order to give his (relatively) petite bride a smooch. Mervi Dibo stands at 5 feet and 8 inches. Though Dibo would not usually be considered short for a lady, when standing next to her gentle giant of a husband, Dibo appears to be very small as Kösen towers over her.

Kösen was reported to express his thoughts and feelings about his young bride and their differences in height:

“How unfortunate I could not find a suitable girl of my own size. My fiancée is over 1.75 meters tall, but I believe I’ve found the person for me.”
