  • The weather is to blame for the recent accident causing Willie Nelson’s tour bus crash – with band members inside. Willie Nelson wasn’t on that bus, but his band members were, and some were injured.

According to Nelson’s website, “No one suffered serious injuries. Paul English injured his ankle, Billy English suffered a bruised hip and crew member Tom Hawkins has a cracked rib. The other family members on the bus are sore but everyone is expected to recover fully.”

The tour bus spun out of control, hitting a bridge pillar around 3 AM on Saturday morning on Interstate 30 near Sulphur Springs during rainy conditions, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Freezing rain and cold weather, with high winds – caused many traffic accidents Saturday due to wintry conditions in parts of Texas. The crash occurred 80 miles east of Dallas after the band had just finished up playing a concert in Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma, Friday night.

The bus held 5 band members, including the driver. The tour scheduled for “Willie Nelson and Friends” that was booked to play four more tour dates in November has been postponed. The were to perform in Robinsonville and Jackson, Miss; Fayetteville, Ark.; and Lafayette, La.

The band needs a rest to recuperate. But don’t be dismayed – Nelson’s tour resumes in December.
