  • Whitney Mongiat, the 30-year old woman who was captured on camera by her husband while throwing a tantrum over a trip to the lake, was apparently “blindsided” by the viral video and is hurt that he posted it online for all to see.

“She had no idea she was being filmed or that the film would end up in the internet. Whitney is a good Christian girl. She has worked hard to get where she is, and then this happens to her,” her mother, Beverly Jones, said.

The couple have only been married about 14 months but Mongiat is reportedly filing for divorce; her husband, Jim, says he’s done the same and has filed for a restraining order. Neighbors say they haven’t seen him at their $250,000 home, which is just outside Knoxville.

Mongiat can be seen on the tape screaming, cursing, kicking, and crying in the passenger seat of a vehicle as Jim–who has his phone propped on his lap–drives.

“I had worked 60 hours that week and told her all week that Saturday was my day to get stuff done around the house. But as usual she threw a fit about it. She has broken doors off the jambs at our house…That was the last day I lived in our house. I have moved out and filed a restraining order against her,” Jim said.

Mongiat’s mother says that her daughter, as well as their entire family, is devastated at her sudden fame after the video went viral to millions.
