The Latino Outreach wing of the Westboro Baptist Church is nothing if not equal-opportunity. After recently going after Modern Family “gay couple” Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who is gay in real life, and Eric Stonestreet, who is not, they have now turned their sights on an international target.

Citing a PrideSource interview from 2007, in which Iglesias spoke about playing a gig in a gay club, the Westboro folks have singled him out for hating.

Throughout the PrideSource interview they cite, Iglesias demonstrates again and again that he himself is not gay. He made no big deal about it, but he never took the bait in questions to represent himself as anything but who he is: a straight singer who happened to be playing a gig at the biggest gay club in London.

How did you choose the guy you sang “Hero” to onstage?

He was up on top of another guy having a good time, so I could clearly see him way, way back in the crowd. But if I ever pick out anybody at one of my concerts, I really just go with my instinct.

Was that the most intimate you’ve ever been with a guy?

Yeah, that was probably the most intimate that I’ve been with a guy. (Laughs) I’ve never serenaded a guy before, I’ll tell you that much.

If you were into guys, who would be your type?

If I was into guys? (Laughs) That’s a good question. Oh, dude, I don’t know what to tell you.

I read somewhere that you got your start singing in a high school production of “Hello, Dolly!” Is that true?

No, that’s what they say, but I never did musical theater. I’ve read that in a lot of places, but I don’t know where the hell they got that from!

Nonetheless, Westboro figures he deserves their ire.

But they also went after Pitbull.

“Together, these simpletons have a huge megaphone to lead the Spanish-speaking and Spanglish-speaking masses. Instead of using that to tell them about truth and life, they teach them to be froward [sic], pushy, entitled WHORES!”

And, finally, they wrapped up with their standard claim

“God Hates Enrique Iglesias & Pitbull!”
