  • Most people have probably heard the saying, “If you can’t afford to leave a tip, then you can’t afford to go out to eat.” Apparently a couple in Oregon takes this saying to heart because even though they didn’t leave their waitress a cash tip, they did leave something behind–just not something any law-abiding citizen would want. When the waitress found an envelope left after a couple paid for their drinks, she looked inside and found methamphetamine.

The waitress, whose name hasn’t been released, discovered the meth on Friday morning. The waitress says that after a couple paid their bill at Twisted Fish in Seaside, Oregon, they left an envelope. When she looked inside, she saw what she suspected to be meth and called the police. The police officer on the scene confirmed that the substance in the envelope was indeed crystal meth.

Police arrested two people in the meth tip case–Ryan Bensen and Erica Manley. After police searched Bensen and Manley, they ended up finding more meth on Manley. According to reports, Manley was arrested for possession of meth, manufacture and delivery of meth. Bensen was originally arrested for possession of methamphetamine and manufacture of methamphetamine, but reports say police later released Bensen without filing charges against him.

Check out the mugshots for Bensen and Manley below.

Police aren’t sure whether the meth was really left behind as a tip or if it was a mistake. “I don’t think it is clear whether it’s a tip or not,” Marquis said. “They left it behind, whether it was an accident or joke or serious. We’ll probably find out in grand jury next week.”

As strange as the meth tip case is, this isn’t even the most bizarre crime story that has been reported on this week. A man in McLoud, Oklahoma is being accused of killing his stepfather by giving him an atomic wedgie.
