  • “Veronica Mars” fans got a treat this week when the Kickstarter project they funded released a treat: the first two minutes of the crowd-funded film, which will be released later this month.

The movie project raised $5.7 million with a goal of just $2 million and will follow Kristen Bell’s character as she returns to Neptune to help an old friend in trouble. In January, Amazon announced that they would be streaming the original series–which ran on UPN and the CW for three years–on their Prime service so that fans could catch up before the movie release.

“The Veronica Mars series has been popular on DVD and Amazon Instant Video for years, so we know how much Amazon customers love this iconic television show,” said Director of Digital Video Content Acquisition Brad Beale. “We are excited to become the exclusive subscription streaming home for Veronica Mars and to be able to offer the entire TV series to Prime members to enjoy at no additional charge. With the movie coming on March 14, both die-hard fans and new viewers can easily catch-up on this great show.”

Bell, whose Disney film “Frozen” did well at the Oscars over the weekend, made headlines last week when an initiative she and husband Dax Shepard have been backing began making rounds with the media. The couple have made it their mission to stop magazines and other media outlets from publishing photos of the children of celebrities, and People Magazine announced last week that they would no longer be accepting those photos from paparazzi.
