  • Vanessa Hudgens reached out to her fans over the weekend to ask for their help regarding her dad, who is battling stage 4 cancer.

The Grease star requested prayers for her father, who was diagnosed last year with the invasive disease. Hudgens has said in the past that after seeing her boyfriend lose his mother to cancer and watching her father battle it for several months, she has a deep hatred for the illness.

“Last year, my boyfriend, Austin, lost his mom, Lori, to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage four cancer. Let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being,” Vanessa said during an awards acceptance speech.

Hudgens made headlines for a recent High School Musical reunion, which didn’t include her ex, Zac Efron. Rumors immediately began to fly that there was bad blood there, but Zac Efron says that every time he sees his old co-stars, he’s flooded with only good memories.

“I continue to see all the guys from High School. Every time we do…there’s just this look between us. It’s so cool because we never forget a single moment of that experience,” Efron said.

These days, Vanessa Hudgens is busy with a revival of Grease, which will air live on television at the end of the month. The production stars Hudgens as Rizzo and Julianne Hough as Sandy, which was the role Vanessa originally envisioned herself in. But the more she read about Betty Rizzo, the more she wanted to play her.

“I definitely watched Grease growing up. I feel like it always a part of my life…I mean, she’s such an amazing part. Now that I’m older, I’m like, oh my God. She’s tough. She’s got grit.”
