Redditor morphinapg has edited the cutscenes and gameplay of all three Uncharted games into feature films. He uses the least amount of gameplay needed to set up the next story sequence that leads into the next cutscene. It’s a fantastic idea for those who don’t want to play the games, but want to see the fantastic stories that are in the Uncharted series.

If you still don’t think that a game’s cutscenes can be edited into a film, each one of these videos clocks in at over 100 minutes with Uncharted 3 ending up at a whopping 196 minutes. It proves that games are one of the best new forms of storytelling since people are willing sit down for a story that takes over 10 hours.

If you have played the games, it’s worth checking out the editing. I think this idea warrants action from Sony to release an official edit as a film. Konami did it once before with the release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence on the PlayStation 2. The special edition of the game came with all the game’s cutscenes edited into a feature film.

Unfortunately, these videos will probably be taken down since they violate some kind of copyright. If Sony was smart, they would leave the videos up as great forms of marketing. Redditor billiumgates sums it quite well, “If only distributors of such media would calm down for long enough to realize that this kind of thing is doing the marketing FOR THEM. They’re too caught up in attempting enforcement to realize when a real fan is helping them.”

Here are the movies for your enjoyment:

    Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune

    Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

    Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

Do you think the Uncharted games work as movies as is? Should Sony make this a reality? Let us know in the comments.
