  • Tracy Chapman is legendary in the world of blues and folk artists and really made a name for herself in the 90’s as one of the best voices out there.

However, there has now been a challenge issued by Kelly Clarkson to Tracy Chapman.

Ok, not really. Tracy Chapman and Kelly Clarkson probably really admire and respect each other.

Kelly Clarkson covered Tracy Chapman’s 1996 hit, “Give Me One Reason”, for SiriusXM Radio.

And it was amazing. Simply perfection. And that is why I say a challenge was issued, except not really.

I’m just curious. Who do you think did it better?

Kelly Clarkson is a pop queen. Getting her start on American Idol, she has really blasted her way through the pop scene with hits like “Since U Been Gone” and “My Life Would Suck Without You”. Her latest hit, “Heartbeat Song” has also made a huge splash.

However, I must admit, I’m not a fan.

If Kelly made a blues album, though. I just might be interested. I mean, come on. Tracy Chapman is really fantastic and she is a generational icon, but Kelly Clarkson? She nailed it.

Recently, it was announced on American Idol that Clarkson would be returning for an episode that will air on April 1st.

In addition to a performance, she will also be a mentor to the contestants.

I wonder what the chances are that she will perform another one of Tracy Chapman’s hits?

Probably not, since her thing is pop. And she’s got to be true to herself, as they say.

But, I think it would be a great departure from the norm for the show.

So, who do you think did “Give Me One Reason” better? Tracy Chapman or Kelly Clarkson?
