  • The widely anticipated full-length trailer for “Total Recall” premiered today and has been making the rounds across the web after fans recently got just a brief preview of what the film has in store.

The film, which stars Colin Ferrell in the role that Arnold Schwarzengger made famous, strays a bit from the original. The scenes from Mars are gone, for one thing, which has fans a little anxious to see what other changes have been made. I, for one, am eager to see if they found a suitable replacement for the awesomeness that is the multi-bosomed lady.

Question. Will the Total Recall remake include the 3 boobed chick? It better!!(image) 4 days ago via Twitter for iPhone ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Total Recall remake seems to completely disregard the Mars storyline. I’m not sure how I feel about this.(image) 2 hours ago via TweetDeck ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Saw the Total Recall trailer this morning. I am disturbed by the distinct lack of Mars.(image) 1 hour ago via TweetDeck ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

TOTAL RECALL – okay I really wanted to dislike this trailer, but I couldn’t! Looks like a blast https://t.co/1avawnrk(image) 53 seconds ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

While some are willing to give it a try–as it is not necessarily a “remake” but rather an adaptation of the short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Phillip K. Dick–others see it as a big-budgeted joke which relies too heavily on CGI. And while it’s true that the effects may overshadow the story at points–one fight scene in particular looks almost like a video game–there are still some intriguing ideas here. Kate Beckinsale as the villain is sort of refreshing, as she’s always the heroine; her punchy cat-fight with Jessica Biel will have all the fanboys drooling into their Junior Mints, I’m sure. Also, the addition of Ferrell’s character as a more relatable character rather than a well-muscled killing machine (I love Arnold as much as the next guy, but he’s not exactly the boy next door) is an interesting spin, as are the darker tones of the film as opposed to the camp and one-liners (although again, much love to the original for those classics). And how about Bryan Cranston as Vilos Cohaagen?

“Total Recall” opens on August 3rd, and it will be interesting to see if it’s a huge summer blockbuster as expected.
