Tim Tebow Isn’t Going Anywhere, Woody Johnson Says

  • Despite a rather lackluster performance by Tim Tebow so far this season, Jets owner Woody Johnson laid to rest rumors that Tebow will be traded, saying he’s not worried about the quarterback and that the team isn’t letting him go anywhere.

“Are we going to keep Tebow? Absolutely,” Johnson said. “He’ll be with us for three years [the length of his contract]…. I think he’s going to be a real valuable asset in terms of helping us win games.”

That should make Skip Bayless incredibly happy. As for that other quarterback, Mark Something-Or-Other, Johnson says that Jets fans aren’t exactly making things easy for him this season.

“It’s not bolstering his confidence,” Johnson said. “We think that he’s good. … He really is that good. I wouldn’t look at the numbers too seriously….I see the same things in Mark Sanchez [as] I first met him. He’s still a young quarterback.”

To be fair to Tebow, it’s not that he’s done badly this season…it’s that he hasn’t done much of anything yet. And while Sanchez struggles, fans wonder if maybe it’s time to trade out the lineup order. But coach Rex Ryan was vague when asked about sending in Tebow, saying “I’m not going to get into the what-ifs and all that. We’re not preparing to lose, that’s for sure. We’re thinking we’re going to win, starting this week.”
