  • Teresa Giudice may be headed for prison in January, but at least she’s making a gratuitous effort to right the wrong she’s been accused of.

According to Good Morning America, as of today the Real Housewives of New Jersey star has reportedly paid $200,000 in restitution she was ordered to repay at the time of her sentencing on Oct. 1.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed that the payment will be deducted from the $414,588 she and her husband, Joe, have to pay.

They couple has been ordered to pay their penalties separately. So, Teresa’s portion has been paid in full.

Since the 42-year-old reality TV star is reportedly broke, fans are probably wondering how she was able to pay the hefty fine.

Well, according to her attorney, $150,000 of the money was already secure through a contract advance she’d received. The other $50,000 was reportedly a loan she received from a friend.

Although Teresa is done with restitution, their troubles are far from over. She is scheduled to begin serving her 15-month prison sentence on Jan. 5.

Once she is released, Joe will begin serving a 41-month sentence. Since he is not a U.S. citizen, he is reportedly facing the possibility of deportation.

According to ABC News, Joe is scheduled to appear in a Paterson, NJ state court on Oct. 15. He is facing additional charges for alleged drivers’ license fraud. Back in 2010, Joe reportedly obtained a license from the Motor Vehicle Commission by presenting his brother’s marriage license and birth certificate.

A source close to the couple also spoke with Radar Online about his new plead deal for the pending charges. He’s reportedly agreed to serve additional time after the 41-month sentence.

“It’s likely Joe will remain behind bars longer than the 41 months in prison …” the source revealed. But, that’s not all. It’s also rumored that Teresa won’t be appearing in court with her husband this time around.

She reportedly “has no plans on going to court with Joe on Wednesday for the sentencing,” the source revealed. “She hasn’t been to one appearance with him for this case, so she figures why now?”
