  • Taylor Swift always seems to be making headlines for her feuds, whether they be with giant corporations who peddle her music, or with other celebrities via social media.

But one thing you can be sure of when it comes to rumors about Taylor Swift: If someone credits an anonymous “insider” in their reporting, they’re lying.

“I do not give an edited version of myself to my friends,” Taylor Swift told Vanity Fair recently. “And anytime I read one of those tabloid articles that says, ‘a source close to Swift says,’ it’s always incorrect. None of my friends are talking, and they know everything.”

In fact, Taylor Swift says her group of friends is so tight that, even in cases where they have romantic overlaps, ther eis no real drama, ever.

“That doesn’t happen,” Swift says. “We even have girls in our group who have dated the same people. It’s almost like the sisterhood has such a higher place on the list of priorities for us. It’s so much more important than some guy that it didn’t work out with. When you’ve got this group of girls who need each other as much as we need each other, in this climate, when it’s so hard for women to be understood and portrayed the right way in the media, now more than ever we need to be good and kind to each other and not judge each other — and just because you have the same taste in men, we don’t hold that against each other.”

Taylor Swift depends on her friends to keep her grounded, and to cover for her in areas that she might not be at her best.

“I can never tell when I have food on my face or when someone is high,” Swift confesses. “That’s why I can’t go to Coachella or Glastonbury.”

Some of Taylor Swift’s closest friends have a name for being fashionistas. Swift herself makes no such claims about her own capabilities.

“I think I know how to put together a good outfit,” she explains, “but any day you’re going to admit to being a style icon is a day you need to look in the mirror and really check yourself.”

While one might think that clothes would be an almost-incessant topic of conversation between Taylor Swift and her Victoria’s Secret pals, she says it’s really not.

“We never talk about stuff like that. We will be like, ‘Those shoes are cute.’ That’s the full conversation. We all dress very differently.”
