Netflix Reaches Deal With Indie Film Distributors

Netflix said today it has reached deals with a number of distributors of independent film that will give its members the option to instantly watch hundred of new indie titles.

Netflix said it has reached non-exclusive licensing agreements to stream films from distributors The Criterion Collection, Gravitas Ventures, Kino Lorber, Music Box Films, Oscilloscope Laboratories and Regent Releasing.

Netflix To Be Available On The Wii This Spring

Netflix said today it has reached an agreement with Nintendo that will allow Netflix members who own a Wii to instantly stream movies and TV shows directly to their TVs.

Netflix is scheduled to go live on the Wii this spring in the United States at no additional cost to Netflix members who have a plan starting at $8.99 a month, a Wii console and a broadband Internet connection.

Netflix-Ready Devices Coming From More Big Brands

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Netflix announced agreements with five global consumer electronics companies, to introduce Netflix-ready devices later in the year. These companies are Funai, which distributes the Philips, Magnavox, Sylvania and Emerson brands in the United States, Panasonic, Sanyo, Sharp and Toshiba.

Warner Bros. And Netflix Reach New Deal

Warner Bros. said today it has reached a new agreement with Netflix to make new Warner titles on DVD and Blu-ray available to Netflix members after a 28-day window.

The move by Warner is an effort to squeeze all the potential profit it can from its new releases. Warner says under the deal Netflix will benefit by paying the studio less for new releases. The agreement also expands the license for Warner Bros. streaming content allowing Netflix to offer its members more movies they can watch instantly.
