If you follow American Football, you know that it’s playoff time, starting this weekend. Since social media and football go hand in hand quite nicely, Twitter has taken it upon itself to help out fans in keeping up with their favorite teams and players that are involved in the run to the Super Bowl.
NFL Football officially gets underway tonight, as the Hall of Fame game between the Cincinnati Bengals (featuring Twitter legends Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco) and the Dallas Cowboys (Owens’) former team kicks off. While only the beginning of the preseason, football fans are excited for the return of their favorite sport.
Google broke out its Insights for Search tool (as well as some other internal sources) to paint a picture of search activity related to the 2010 World Cup.
The World Cup’s 30 days of soccer began on Friday, and there will no doubt be plenty more related searching in the coming weeks. Google Consumer Operations Strategist Jaime Forman-Lau says:
Domain name registrar and web hosting provider GoDaddy appears to be really making a name for itself based on controversial Super Bowl ads. In fact, one could ponder whether or not the general public would have such a distinct idea of what GoDaddy even is, if it were not for its Super Bowl controversies. Something tells me that’s just fine with GoDaddy. The company seems to feed off this stuff.
