  • Susan Sarandon has played lots of roles in her many years as an actress, but the next one she’ll play–in real life even–is one she’s never played before. Sarandon will soon become a grandmother. Daughter Eva Amurri is expecting her first baby. Sarandon gushed about the excitement at the 6th Annual Blossom Ball to Benefit the Endometriosis Foundation of America on Friday. She even talked about shopping for her unborn grandchild.

“I think that even when I was having a baby myself and even after I had two babies myself, that you can’t even grasp the reality of it until that baby is there,” Sarandon, 67, told Us Weekly at the ball. “So even though we’re very excited and the sonograms are beautiful and we’ve been shopping, it’s still — I don’t think you actually understand until there’s a human being there. So we’re still in that kind of state, but we’re very excited.”

She has even bought a very special gift for her daughter in anticipation of the new baby’s arrival.

“We bought this gliding chair,” she said. “I had used a rocking chair, but now they have these chairs that glide. You can sleep in it practically. So that’s what she got for her birthday from me.”

Eva Amurri is expecting her baby with hubby Kyle Martino, and she just recently confirmed via Twitter that they know the gender of the unborn baby.

If you’ve ever awaited the birth of a grandchild, months can seem like years. Shopping and planning for the little bundle of joy does make time pass a bit more quickly for excited grandmothers. Susan Sarandon will likely keep herself busy for the next four and a half to five months doing exactly that. And then she’s in for the joy of her life.
