Fans of Star Trek have a reputation for being some of the most rabid in all of entertainment. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that when a film in the series is subpar they are not shy about sounding off about it.

During the Creation Star Trek convention in Las Vegas last weekend fans made it abundantly clear that in the entire 50 year span of the franchise they hated no film more than the latest by J.J. Abrams. A writer for Badass Digest noted that “Star Trek Into Darkness was met with boos when it was mentioned, and one guy took the mic to say these reboots shouldn’t even be considered for a list of Star Trek movies.”

The same writer commented that “Star Trek Into Darkness is a bad movie made badly that is also bad Star Trek and, worst of all, a cheap rehash of better things.”

The 2009 reboot, also directed by Abrams, ranked at 6 on the list of 13 feature films, and is generally more highly respected among the Trekkie fanbase. Number 1 on the list went to “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” with little debate. In fact, a major issue with the newest movie was how Khan himself was rebooted and “whitewashed” through the casting of British actor Benedict Cumberbatch (the character is supposed to be on Indian origin).

Lets all hope that Abrams has better luck with “Star Wars Episode VII,” which is slated to be released in the summer of 2015.
