When you go through hard times, you reach out to friends for support. However, according to actress Portia De Rossi, her wife’s relationship with Modern Family star Sofia Vergara is getting too close for comfort.

Talk show host and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres sparked up a friendship with the 41-year old Colombian actress after she began to appear on Ellen’s show regularly. The two ladies also bonded while co-starring in ads for Cover Girl.

But, despite that fact that Vergara is obviously straight and has shown no indication of “changing teams,” Ellen’s 41-year old wife is not comfortable with the relationship.

“Portia always resented Ellen’s friendship with Sofía, and that Sofía is leaning on Ellen for support, she’s even more jealous,” an insider told OK! Magazine.

Vergara, recently appearing in the film Chef, may seem to have a fabulous Hollywood life now, but that hasn’t always been the case. In Colombia, she was married at 18, had a child at 19, and was divorced at 20. Five years later Vergara’s older brother was murdered and in 2011 her younger brother was deported from the United States to Colombia after being arrested. She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000, had it removed, and, although she made a full recovery, she takes daily medication to control the symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Recently, Vergara’s relationship to businessman Nick Loeb was called off after a 2-year engagement. Having a friend like Ellen sounds like exactly with Vergara needs. But De Rossi’s jealousy continues.

“Portia has always thought Ellen was a little too touchy-feely with Sofía, they’ve fought about it before, but Ellen convinced Portia she was blowing the situation out of proportion and that the women were just good friends,” the insider said.

After months of tabloid speculation as to whether Ellen and De Rossi are calling it quits, this friendship only seems to add fuel to the fire. But Ellen continues to fend off allegations.

“The truth is, and this is corny,” Ellen said. “I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time. It’s what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We’re really lucky because we know how rare it is.”

Vergara is currently filming Don’t Mess With Texas, an American action comedy directed by Anne Fletcher and co-starring Reese Witherspoon. It will be released in May 2015.
