Modern Family star Sofia Vergara and fiance 38-year-old businessman Nick Loeb have officially called off their engagement. Not wanting to let the press have the first word concerning the split, Vergara took to her personal WhoSay account on Friday to announce the news.

“Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have [decided] to be apart. We have [been] having too many problems with figuring out how to spend time together because of my work and now his, it’s been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore.”

The couple had been dating for four years. They split up one time before back in 2012, however, they got back together and announced their plans to marry just two months later.

The 41-year-old Colombian married her childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez at the age of 18. The couple divorced in 1992, they have one son together Manolo.

Modern Family just wrapped up Season 5 last week with Mitch and Cam’s big wedding. The successful ABC sitcom will look to keep its momentum with Season 6 starting next fall.

Vergara is also keeping busy this summer on a project, which is currently filming in New Orleans, with pal Reese Witherspoon. The film is an action-comedy called Don’t Mess with Texas. In the movie, Witherspoon plays a by-the-books police officer who is assigned to protect a glamorous drug lord’s widow, played by Vergara.

You can also check out Vergara in the independent film Chef, which was directed by Jon Favreau. The film is currently playing in theaters to positive critical buzz.
