  • Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes share a daughter and a life together, so he no doubt realized the day might come when he’d have to defend her. He probably never imagined he’d have to defend Eva Mendes over a comment she made about sweatpants, however.

The Drive star reached out to fans–both his and hers–via Twitter this week to defend a comment Eva Mendes made about sweatpants being the number one cause of divorce.

Can you believe that people even took that statement seriously?

And then, to make sure he understood the gravity of the situation, Ryan Gosling tweeted again about the sweatpants.

Eva Mendes tried to make light of the comment she initially made during a recent interview with Extra!

“Dear favorite pair of sweatpants. I was just kidding when I said you’re the #1 cause of divorce. Everyone knows that orange crocs are the #1 cause of divorce. Either way it was a bad joke and feel terrible if you or anyone thought I was serious. Thanks for understanding sweatpants. Sorry orange crocs,” she captioned the following Instagram photo.

Apparently no one took her seriously, because Ryan Gosling felt the need to jump in and defend her.

Women everywhere would no doubt love to even catch the attention of Ryan Gosling. Just imagine how they’d feel in Eva Mendes’s shoes being defended by him. It’s definitely an indication of the relationship they share.

Do you think Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes will be tying the knot any time soon now that he’s proven he’s her knight in shining armor?
