  • Rumer Willis could’ve starred in Gossip Girl, in an alternate universe.

She certainly auditioned, but apparently it didn’t go so well.

In a recent interview with Buzzfeed, the show’s casting director David Rapaport talked about how things could’ve been a lot different.

“I feel like you go back and think, There is nobody else that could have played these characters. I think the network initially pitched us Ashley Olsen and Rumer Willis for Blair and Serena.”

“I love Rumer, she’s grown into quite an amazing actress and person, but that, to me, was based on protecting the investment of a television show where creatively, these lesser-known girls really captured the essence of the show and carried it for six years,” he continued.

“You know, it was actually totally news to me,” Willis told People. “I felt like I did an awful audition back then. I was so young and it was, like, one of the first things I’d ever auditioned for … My sisters and I were huge fans of the books – huge, huge fans so I remember we were just so excited when they said they were doing a TV show.”

In the end, Willis says Blake Lively and Leighton Meester did “an incredible job.”

In other Rumer Willis news, she was recently spotted at a Knicks game with Bachelor star Chris Soules.

And the two snapped some selfies, so it’s clear they have a good time together.
